Grass Head Egg Plants

Hello everyone,

So if you've only read the title of this post so far, you may well be very confused. I apologise for that. But if you continue to read, everything with make sense.

Originally, I started using these egg shells to plant flowers in to give my nan as a gift for Easter, however, 1 out of 6 was successful and I was left with 5 others that were going nowhere. So I decided to jazz them up a bit.

I put grass seeds in, watered them and just hoped for the best. After a good few weeks/months or so, they had grown really well and the grass had become long like hair, so what else was I to do with them than to draw faces on them and give them personalities....and names too.

Let's introduce you to Norman, Betty, Pepe, Larry & Erik.

This is Norman. He's always quiet & sad and doesn't fit in with everyone else.

This is Betty. She's outgoing and flirty and gets on well with everyone.

This is Pepe. He's the cool, Spanish surfer that gets on well with Betty.

This is Larry, he's very loud and over dramatic and a little bit crazy. He will be friends with anyone.

This is Erik. He's always very angry and shocked. You don't want to get on the wrong side of him.

Although this is not my usual kind of post, I just thought it was something fun that I'd share. It could be a bit of a DIY but I haven't really given very clear steps to making them.
If you'd like to make your own it is really simple, I'll give a little quick step-by-step that you could follow.

1) Take some eggs (as many as you choose) and gently tap it with a spoon to break the top off.
2) Empty out the yolk and egg white from inside. Either put it in a bowl to keep hold of or throw it out if you don't want it.
3) Gently swish some water around inside the shell to clean it and tip it out.
4) Fill your shells with some soil and sprinkle grass seeds fairly into them.
5) Continue to water them each day, don't give them too much water though.
6) Wait for them to grow some hair, you can cut it and style it in any way you like and draw faces on with a marker to give them personalities.

Hope you've enjoyed this and if you think it's a good idea or something fun to do, give it a go and see what faces you can make.

See you soon

African Oyé Festival & Exciting Vintage Finds

Hello everybody,

I feel like I haven't posted in ages because since I've left school, I've been off everyday doing my own stuff and I feel like I should have posted by now. So that I don't run out of ideas I'm going to post once a week or maybe twice if I feel like.

Anyway, I've left this weekends post until today rather than yesterday because today I went to the African Oyé Festival so I wanted to post that this weekend. There also happened to be a Vintage Fair on, turned out to be a successful visit and I will get around to explaining why. I took my trusty companion along with me so there will be pictures - in which case, let's get to it.

There were lots of traditional things like this that I came across and I was mesmerised by the handmade things that the men and women had carved and created.

These were cute parasols with lovely details and patterns on. I saw a girl sitting in the field with one and it looked lovely.

These were more things that had been made from wood and I just think they are so amazing.

These were huge bowls and plates - not to eat from - that I think had been made by the lady on the stall. I'm not sure what you used these for but they look good.

So as I mentioned at the beginning, I went to a Vintage Fair. I had this exciting find, flip lens sunglasses. I have seen people with these a few times and I think they're really cool and unusual so I bought them. I was also given a leaflet about the vintage fairs from the lady I spoke to on this stall. I'm led to believe it was run by Pillbox Vintage. They have a website where you can find out when their fairs are on if you live near them or around Merseyside in the UK - I'll leave their link at the end.

On an excitement scale of 1-10, I was a solid....8/9. How cute is it!?
This is the first model Kodak Brownie 127 from the 1950's - My other good find. I will be attending their fairs again to see what else I can find as I was very impressed and the people I spoke to were lovely too, good customer service!

So that's everything from today, I hope you've enjoyed reading and you got excited about those funky sunglasses and cute little camera. Unfortunately the weekends over so I can't wish you a lovely weekend but I hope it's been great and it's been lovely having you here.

See you soon

Mini Summer Accessories Haul | 100th Post

Hey everyone,

So before we go anywhere with this post, I just want to point out that as you may have noticed in the title, this is my 100th post!!! Wow, that's crazy and it makes me so excited.

I've mentioned Kayleigh on here many times before and I originally wanted her to guest write the hundreth post because I'm always talking about her and saying "Ahh my best friend Kayleigh....I did this with Kayleigh....I went here with Kayleigh" but she didn't want to do it and she doesn't really like writing things.

However, besides that, I have something else that is quite exciting. In my 100th blog post, it's the first time you as readers will see me! I don't know how many of you have gone over to my instagram (@connellaoife - smooth...very smooth, Aoife) if you have done, you will have seen me before and in which case this post isn't as exciting. But for those of you who haven't this is your chance to see me for the first time which makes me excited and nervous.

I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for continuing to read these posts, I love writing them and as long as you continue to read, I'll continue to write and look how far we've come in 1 year and 5 months.

First of all is this blue bag. I decided I needed a new bag and I didn't have a nice sort of handbag style one so I saw this in Primark and picked it up. It also has a shoulder strap that isn't shown on this picture so you don't have to carry it by the handles.

Apparently, 'blue is the new black' so I've heard, so I grabbed this bag at the right time.

Because this post is mainly for the accessories (bags and sunglasses) I have used the same outfit throughout as it's quite basic and simple but still bright and summery.

This second bag I also saw in Primark and thought it'd be really handy in summer. When I go places with my friends if we go to the park or for a picnic etc, I don't want to take a big bag and I just thought this was a great size and I like the colourful aztec print too. Good purchase, Aoife!

Again, with this outfit, it gives it quite a casual look but I could imagine this to look good with denim shorts and a nice summery t-shirt or vest and a kimono for a more festival inspired look.

This shirt is an exception to 'accessories' because quite frankly, it is not an accessory. However, I bought it with the rest of the stuff and it's summery so I've thrown it in there.
It's a white boxy collared shirt and the back goes a little bit longer than the front which I quite like.

This is a closer picture of it so you can see the pattern on it. When I picked it up, I didn't like how old-womany it looked on the hanger but when I tried it on, I liked it better.

That's me! That is my face! But that's not the reason for the picture, it is of course for the amazing round mirrored lense sunglasses I'm wearing. Another Primark bargain which I'm happy with.

I like these A LOT.

I hope you have enjoyed looking through this and it has given you some ideas for what you might look out for next time you're shopping. I'll leave the shops and the prices below.

See you soon.

Calas de Mallorca

Hey everyone,

So last week I went to Mallorca for 5 days with my family. I took 'some' pictures while I was there - 'some' meaning just under 250...oops. So I'm going to share some with you.

Some are from the beach, some from a walk around the town and the rest from a walk I went on with my Dad around the coast of the island.

These are the steps that lead down to the beach. Out of the days I took pictures on, this was probably the best in terms of weather as it was sunny for the whole of them.

A view from up high of the beach.

Cute little thatched shade umbrellas and sun loungers.

My feet in the sand.

Another part of the island and a cove on the right.

Okay, I can explain. I went on a walk and I saw a man walking a pig. Literally that.

A view of a hotel (not my hotel) over a row of bright red flowers.

My shadow.

The view of the sea from the coastal walk path.

A cute little house with a lot of yellow decor that I'm a fan of.

A small beach below one of the towns that we walked past.

The rock/cliff that we climbed - not up the side, we walked along it to the very edge.

Another small beach we found along the way.

The same beach from the other side. We walked down the steps you can see at the bottom of the photo, across the beach and up the steps that you can see as pretty much a line near the centre of the photo.

The very edge of the cliff. This was the only picture that would really show just how high up we were and it still doesn't look that bad on here. IT WAS HIGH UP.

THE CUTEST VESPA I'VE EVER SEEN I MY LIFE. That may be a bit of an exaggeration because if it's a vespa it's automatically cute and I probably love it, but this was just so beautiful and the colour was amazing (photo doesn't do it justice) it was a pale lime green shade. This is also my favourite vespa model, I like them less as they become more modern but this ones an oldie and I love love love it so much.

This is just two cute palm trees by the pool at my hotel that I took one evening when I was sitting there.

I really hope you enjoyed this post, I had a lovely time on holiday and met some lovely people that I spent the last few days with so that was good.
I am happy with how the photos turned out and they'll be good memories.

See you soon
